His real name is Derek William Dick and the Scottish artist has gained the respect of the music industry in over 40 years of career, shining into the spotlight thanks to his amazing voice (also described as a mix between Roger Daltrey and Peter Gabriel) and also to his lyrics, considered poetic prose.
Thanks to his distinct voice, musical talent and distinguished stage presence, Fish reached the 37th spot in the "Best rock voices" top released by Planet Rock in 2009 and 49th in "The 100 Greatest Frontmen", top realised by Classic Rock in 2004. (Classic Rock is a well-known British magazine part of the same publishing company as Metal Hammer and Prog.
Fish has cemented his international status as lead singer of renowned progressive rock band Marillion, alongside which he contributed to the development of the musical industry from 1981 till 1988. To this he added his solo career, where Fish has explored several artistic areas, from rock to folk or contemporary pop, artistic travels materialized in ten albums met with enthusiasm from magazines and progressive music fans. From his debut album "Virgil in a Wilderness of Mirrors", released in 1990, that reached the first places in European tops, Fish's records have received positive reviews and provoked pasionate conversations and discussions within musical audiences.
His latest album is, "Weltschmerz", scheduled for release in May will be the last chapter in his musical journey, as he himself declared. To close the circle, during his promotional tour, Fish will play songs from his first album as well as songs taken from "Weltschmerz". Prog fans are in for a special musical experience at ARTmania Festival.
